Huge boost to Kerry Airport as Aer Arann announces return of Manchester route

KERRY Airport is delighted to announce that from next May, Aer Arann will re-introduce a regular service to and from Manchester with the potential to generate passenger figures in the region of 20,000 a year.

The flights will operate four days a week arriving into Kerry at 1320 hours and departing at 1350 hours on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, beginning on Thursday 20th May 2010. Full details are available from kerryairport.ie/timetable.

Basil Sheerin, Financial Controller at Kerry Airport said:

“We greatly welcome Aer Arann’s decision to re-introduce the air link between Kerry and Manchester which has a proven record of being profitable with satisfactory passenger loads and revenue. The new service has the potential to greatly increase tourism income for the county and it is another vote of confidence in both Kerry Airport and Kerry as a gateway. This will have a positive economic impact on a range of sectors in the southwest region.”

The new Aer Arann flight schedule from Kerry Airport will be suited to a range of passengers including football fans, offering easy access to midweek or weekend games involving Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton. Kerry holidaymakers will also have greater access to a wider range of city and sun breaks as Manchester Airport offers holiday charters from/to popular European and worldwide destinations. There is a wide choice of destinations to choose from including Dubai, Fuerteventura, Cyprus, Edinburgh, Athens, and Los Angeles to name but a few.

“Passengers arriving at Kerry Airport from Manchester with Aer Arann will only be a short distance from the Lakes of Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Rose of Tralee, Dingle Peninsula, the Irish Open Golf and much more. Despite the current economic climate - there is great value to be had in Kerry in relation to accommodation, outdoor activities and eating out while the Cead Mile Failte is very much alive throughout this county. Starting fares from as low as €39/£39 each way including taxes are very competitive and shows a commitment to the route by Aer Arann,” said Basil Sheerin.

Bookings for flights between Kerry and Manchester can now be made online by logging onto www.aerarann.com.

Kerry Airport is ideally located for anyone wishing to travel on business or pleasure with direct flights to seven destinations including: Manchester with Aer Arann and to Dublin, London Stansted, London Luton, Frankfurt-Hahn, Alicante and Faro with Ryanair. There is ample and great value parking at Kerry Airport as well as friendly service. Kerry Airport won the prestigious Irish Airport of the Year Award in 2005 from the CCI and was declared the first Heartsafe Airport in Ireland by the Irish Heart Foundation.
